Volunteers
The club is 100% run by volunteers. Each season, club members donate their time and energy to serve on the committee, coach, manage, assist teams, help out at home games and functions and assist with fundraising events (and many people do several of the tasks mentioned). Volunteers are the backbone of the club and we could not survive without them!
Past players and supporters
A strength of our club is our past player and supporter network. It’s great to hear past players and supporters talk about their fond memories of the Palmerston Crocs. Stories from our reunions also demonstrate just how important the club has been in so many people’s lives. These strong foundations are a real asset and also benefit all current members of the club.
Social events
The club holds a number of social events throughout the season. These may include Club Nights, Players’ Teas and Ladies Days. The Senior Presentation Night is a gala night; in recent years it has been held at club sponsor Cazalys. The Junior Presentation events are held at the clubhouse, allowing families to catch up in a relaxed setting at the end of the season.
Community involvement
In addition to providing the opportunity for players and their families to be part of a family-friendly, local sporting club, we also contribute to the community in other ways. For example, we regularly host charity events and fundraisers (such as the 2019 RUOK Rounds, pictured) and we allow community use of our clubhouse and facilities (subject to volunteer availability).
Fundraising
Fundraising efforts throughout the year enable the club to keep costs down for members, while at the same time building the club for the future. Major fundraising activities include the annual four-day Darwin Show Clean Up (pictured) and weekend Bunnings BBQ’s. We also utilise the Container Deposit Scheme and recycle cans and bottles from the bar and at home games.
Boot Exchange
Our super popular boot exchange just keeps on giving – donate or swap pre-loved boots in good condition, or pick up a pair if you ever need ‘new’ boots (and at some stage return the favour by putting back into the club in some way). Win / win!
